Talgarth Mansions, W14
Also known as St Paul’s Studios, Talgarth Mansions is a striking row of red-brick artist studios built in 1891 along Talgarth Road in Hammersmith. Designed by architect Frederick Wheeler, these eight terraced houses were originally created as live-in studios for unmarried artists, featuring grand, north-facing arched windows, decorative terracotta detailing, and housekeeper apartments below. Over the years, they’ve been home to many notable residents, including Margot Fonteyn and Marcus Garvey.
We had the privilege of working on one of these remarkable properties, where our team installed seamless engineered wood flooring throughout, creating a clean and contemporary flow between rooms while respecting the building’s historic character. We also carried out the careful removal of an unused chimney from the original structure, replacing it with a new wall to optimise space without disrupting the architectural integrity.
A project that perfectly balanced restoration with refinement—preserving the past while making space for modern living.
